According to the Education Ministry, Jawaharlal Nehru University will award an honorary doctorate to Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan, who is in India on a four-day visit.

On a four-day visit, President Hassan came here on Sunday.Jawaharlal Nehru University will confer an honorary doctorate (Honoris Causa) to the first female president of Tanzania in recognition of her significant contributions to advancing economic diplomacy, developing greater India-Tanzania relations, and achieving achievement in regional integration.Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan will be awarded an honorary doctorate from JNU.

The visiting official received a formal greeting at Rashtrapati Bhavan's forecourt earlier in the day. On October 10, President Hassan will take part in a business and investment event in Delhi.
